What a Thrill Ride! My Review of Avengers: Infinity War

NO SPOILERS! Thanos demands your silence!

After watching Avengers: Infinity War, I grasped to find a metaphor for what it felt like during the 2 hour and 36 minute edge-of-your seat thrill-ride. All I could think of was the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando. If you’ve ever been on it, you know EXACTLY what I’m talking about.

Once you’re strapped into your seat and the seconds countdown for launch, you are catapulted from 0-57 mph in 2.8 seconds! When the ride is finally over, you sit there for a moment wondering what just happened.

That explains precisely how I felt during this movie. From the opening scene, this movie pulled me in with its action sequences and fantastic cinematography. While some action movies lose content, this movie does not.

The plot weaves seamlessly, and the dialogue is smart, witty, and downright funny. As a matter of fact, I want to see it again, so I can follow some of the banter that I missed when I was too busy laughing at the previous lines.

The plot centers around the evil Thanos (Josh Brolin), who is on a quest to acquire the six Infinity Stones that are scattered and protected throughout space. If he garners a stone, his powers will maximize which could then culminate into an epic war.

For diehard Marvel fans, this has been ten years in the making. “Easter eggs” or clues as to where those Infinity stones are being kept have been planted within each Marvel movie. Each stone has its own special power (space, time, reality, mind, power, and soul), and whoever possesses all six stones becomes the most formidable being in the Universe.

The movie depicts the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy teaming up to help thwart Thanos’s wicked plan.

I have to admit, watching Ironman (Robert Downey, Jr.) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) work together with Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) is quite surreal, not to mention all of the other heroes intertwined into the plot. Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) hanging out with (and quite jealous of) Thor (Chris Hemsworth)? It makes for quite the thrilling tale!

I won’t give anything away, but just like when the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster came to a halt, my jaw dropped, and I couldn’t believe what happened. The entire movie theatre just sort of sat there in disbelief. And make sure you don’t miss the bonus scene after the credits unfold.

Fortunately, Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 will be released next year because this cliffhanger is out-of-this world!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this movie! Not only did my husband and I love it, so did my 10-year old son. We all want to see it again, and I say, “Strap me in for another ride on that epic roller coaster!”
