The only sponsorship on this cruise was with Talbots and their collaboration with O, The Oprah Magazine. All of my opinions are my own.
When O, The Oprah Magazine and Holland America decided to host a Girls’ Getaway Cruise with Oprah and Gayle, it literally sold out within hours! I didn’t think I would get to go, but the stars aligned and I set sail on the high seas for an adventure of a lifetime!
I’ve been trying to figure out how to even put words together to describe this incredible experience, so I’m going to let my photos do the talking.
After boarding the ship, we took some time to explore the beautiful ship.
As we left the port a few hours later, we enjoyed a Sail O-Way Party on the lido deck with Gayle King and hundreds of other passengers. We said bon voyage to Ft. Lauderdale and laughed and danced.
After spending half of the day in the Bahamas, we headed back to the boat, and enjoyed more activities on the ship.
Watching Oprah speak in person was a dream come true for me. I have been a faithful fan of hers for more than 30 years. Her talk made me laugh and cry, and I found out things about her I never even knew! And I thought I knew everything!
The food on Holland America’s Niew Statendam was divine! And I loved how they noted food with allergens, so I knew what to select to avoid gluten. Besides the buffet, there were several restaurants, grills, and fine dining in the dining room.
The next day I got to model with my fellow O Mag Insiders for Adam Glassman’s Love That! Fashion Show with Talbots. O, The Oprah Magazine Collection for Talbots is for a wonderful cause as 30% of the net proceeds goes directly to Dress for Success.
After the fashion show, we went to listen to Oprah interview Tara Westover, author of the best-selling novel Educated. What we didn’t know was that it would be taped as one of Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations!
The last night on the ship was Oprah’s Pajama Party. What a blast! Unfortunately, I was on the other side of the room when Oprah arrived handing out tequila shots to everyone!
The next day was a special treat as I was invited to the VIP event of Oprah christening the new ship. And because Oprah is now the godmother, she spoke and blessed the ship. Oprah is officially a crew member for life!
Let’s just say, this was an experience of a lifetime, and I’m still replaying this cruise in my mind. If you’ve never thought of going on a cruise, I highly encourage you to do so. Holland America’s attention to detail, friendly staff, and fabulous amenities and food make it a no-brainer for vacation!
