I’m telling you, this gluten-free journey has been quite the eye-opener! Once I stopped eating gluten, I thought my hives and gastrointestinal problems would be over for good. Boy, was I wrong!
Gluten is not only in breads, pasta, and crackers. It can also be found in gravy, dressings, and sauces. I slowly figured that out and still endured some more outbreaks. I discovered the gum I had been chewing contained gluten! What?? As soon as I stopped chewing it, my hives dramatically decreased.
As my hives lessened, I still noticed that I was having sporadic outbreaks. My husband looked at me and asked if I had looked into the ingredients in my skincare products. I thought he was crazy, but then realized that anything put ONTO my skin would be absorbed INTO my body – makes sense! Sure enough, as I conducted online research, I found out that my skincare lotions did indeed contain gluten!
I was shocked and overwhelmed with the amount of work I would have to do to ensure I abstained from gluten for the rest of my life! To be honest, it made me downright depressed. I always took it for granted that I could eat anything I wanted. I used to roll my eyes when people said they had to avoid gluten. Maybe this was karma!
A dear friend turned me onto Neal’s Yard Remedies (NYR) organic skincare products when she heard about my plight. I slowly changed my face wash, toner, and moisturizers to their brand, and it made all of the difference. Their products are pure and don’t contain any “junk.”
I’ll share with you some of my favorite products below and why I simply love this company. Feel free to browse my online store if you’re interested. Click here!
