Occupation: Entrepreneur, Writer, Speaker, Coach.
What did you want to be when you were a little girl?
A marine biologist because I thought it meant I could play with dolphins all day. Totally random for me now because I hated science in school.
What are some different jobs you’ve had in your life?
I was a lifeguard in high school, bartender in college, and was a personal trainer while in graduate school. I worked as a clinical mental health therapist before building my own businesses.
What do you work toward in your spare time?
Hmmm… I don’t know if I consider anything spare time. I have two young children, so all of my allocated time is really intentional. But in the past year or so, I have been cooking a lot more, mostly because I am dealing with autoimmune health issues which has meant learning how to cook so many dishes with approved ingredients from scratch.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Definitely a morning person. I struggle to stay awake past 9:30pm.
What are you most proud of?
My kids. I know it sounds like a cliché answer, but it’s the truth. They are so smart and kind and just blossoming into incredible humans. Other than that, my book. Mostly because I spent most of my life telling myself that I couldn’t do something like that. It feels really awesome to prove yourself wrong in the best possible way.
What are you known for?
Hmmm… probably my achiever personality. When I set my sights on something, I really go after it and make it happen.
What inspires you?
Women who live out everyday unapologetically themselves.
Tell me something about you that most people don’t know.
I think most people assume I am an extrovert because I am very energetic when I interact with people, I live out loud online, and I am a strong public speaker, but I am a raging introvert. I spend most of my days in quiet, and big events take a ton of recovery for me.
Why did you apply to be an O Mag Insider?
I found out about the opportunity through one of my oldest friends, Misty Nelson, and watched her journey for a year. Oprah has been one of my biggest, and probably first, life mentors. It just really spoke to me so gave it a go!
How do you live your best life?
The thing that is most important to me is just making sure that I am living MY best life and not getting lost in what other people are doing. I spend a lot of time staying in alignment with my heart, and this guides me to everything I want or need.
What are you reading now?
I just started All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.
What’s a day in your life like?
I get up early, usually before the kids wake up to just take a minute to myself and picture my day and set my intention. Then I get my daughter ready for kindergarten. Most days, I am able to do yoga or run in the morning before my husband goes to work, and then I spend the mornings and lunch with my 2 year old son. I use his afternoon nap time as my power hour and work. Then we pick my daughter up from school and do all the mom things – homework, ballet, make dinner, baths, bed. After they are in bed, it’s either time to spend with my husband or catch up on a few more work things.
