Occupation: Mama / Blogger at SheSaved / Entrepreneur
What did you want to be when you were a little girl?
What are some different jobs you’ve had in your life?
I always had fun summer jobs during college. One summer I was a nanny in the Hamptons. Another summer I worked at the race track cleaning horse stalls. I spent another of my college summers guiding trail rides on horseback through the Idaho mountains for an outfitter. After college I went right into graphic design and ended up as the art director for a big cosmetic manufacturer. When that company closed down, I started painting dog portraits on canvas and selling them on eBay. eBay was so new and my business took off like crazy. Before long, I had an ebay Power Seller store and am even mentioned in the Official eBay Bible as one of the first artists to sell on eBay.
What do you work toward in your spare time?
Spare time? What IS that? lol. I don’t feel like I have a lot of spare time, but we live in the country in a 1912 farmhouse that is a never-ending project, so if I do have any spare time, I enjoy working on and around our home.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
I am a night owl who desperately wants to be a morning person. Thus, I go to bed way too late, get up early against my will, and pour my coffee into a mug with the inscription “the crab” on it. Truth.
What are you most proud of?
My family. We aren’t perfect, but they are my people.
I’m also pretty proud of my O, The Oprah Magazine photo shoot with Chico’s. That experience was so out of my comfort zone, and I loved every minute of it! The campaign “Growing Bolder Not Older” really changed me as a person and helped me to push myself to new personal goals and limits.

What are you known for?
What a hard question! I’m probably most known for being a mama bear. No question there. My family means everything to me.
I’m very creative, so I’m often asked to help with projects or events. I love marketing, especially affiliate marketing, and I could literally talk about that for hours and hours. Don’t get me started!
I’m also very loyal. I have 4 best friends, one from each decade of my life, and they are all the “call in the middle of the night and I’m there without question” friendships.
And I’m kind of funny, but that might depend on who you ask. 🙂
What inspires you?
Uplifters. People who see the best in others and take the time to truly connect and listen. We have so much to learn from each other and you never know where you next valuable lesson will come from. Those types of people inspire me to be a better person myself.
Tell me something about you that most people don’t know.
Instead of having an imaginary friend when I was a child, I had imaginary horses. I kept them in the bathroom stalls at school. I still remember all of their names and exactly what they looked like.
Why did you apply to be an O Mag Insider?
I’ve always loved all things Oprah. I used to rush home from school to watch her show. She has always been so positive and smart when it comes to her influence and impact on our world. In my high school years, Oprah was truly a very strong role model for me. She still is. My grandmother used to always say “Oprah says…” as if whatever Oprah said was IT.
How do you live your best life?
I’m a work in progress but in the past year or so I have learned that living my best life is a state of mind. Happiness is a choice, and we can find it in the most simple of moments. Our happiness level can greatly be affected by the way we choose to spend our time and the people that we choose to spend it with.
Reaching outside of my comfort zone has really worked for me this past year, so I’ve been running with it. I want my children to live their best lives too, and my hope is that they will catch on to the concept much earlier than I did, so I try to be a great example.

What’s a day in the life of Keri Lyn like?
Snoozing the alarm no less than three times, then coffee and a little quiet time to go over the numbers of my blog from the day before. Wake the kids for outside chores and then breakfast with the family. I typically work on blog projects (SheSaved) during the day (much less in the summer) and spend a crazy amount of my time taxiing my small humans to their sporting/dance activities. I cherish this time because it is where some of our best conversations happen.
Since my husband is a veterinarian, we tend to have a pretty flexible schedule. Each day is a new adventure and very unpredictable.
Dinner is hit or miss in the quality department, but regardless, we almost always eat together as a family. Evenings usually include a walk through our hills or chilling out on the patio. After the kids go to bed, I will usually hop back online and work for a bit and then it’s either a late night of projects, a bit of reading before bed, or roshambo with the hubby to see who gets to pick what we watch on TV.
