Meet O Mag Insider – Rosie Fierro!

Age: 37, soon to be 38 on November 30th.  I must say, as I age, I feel more confident.

Occupation: Substitute Teacher and love it. I’m also a stay-at-home mom and love it more. I find so much reward serving others and my family.

What did you want to be when you were a little girl?

I wanted to be a singer. I wanted to model, and I wanted to have a family.

What are some different jobs you’ve had in your life?

Oh my gosh, I have had many random jobs. My first job was a summer job at age 16. It was through a high school program at a Naval Air Station in a day care center, and that’s where I knew I wanted to work with kids in the future. Also, I worked at our local YMCA, a retail store, a receptionist at an optometrist and chiropractic office, and the list goes on. I love working with people, and I have found every single job was a lesson in communication, compassion, patience, service, and love. These lessons helped shape the person I am today.

What do you work toward in your spare time?

In my spare time I like to spend time with friends and family. We love the outdoors, nature, and going on adventures. I also enjoy working on my Instagram content. I enjoy photography and inspiring women and men through all things beauty, along with a great quote.

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

Definitely a night owl.

What are you most proud of?

My family and my three children – Christopher, Giovanni, and Kimberly – they made me fall in LOVE with life again. They teach me so much, and I am so proud of the beautiful humans they are becoming. I’m also so proud of that moment I saw myself in the May Issue of Oprah Magazine in collaboration with Ponds. I was proud because I was so scared to put myself out there, yet I did not let fear hold me back. I am so glad I made a choice to make the best out of that amazing experience, and I feel so blessed and thankful for it.

What are you known for?

Good energy. I always have a smile on my face…I can’t help it 🙂

What inspires you?

My family of course, my husband, my children, my mother, my father and sisters along with my nephews and nieces. They inspire love, faith and hope. Everyday things inspire me as well – a blue sky, a rainy day, a smile, kindness, books, my O Mag sisters of course, and Oprah – Duh! 🙂

Tell me something about you that most people don’t know.

Let’s see, oh I know, I’m bilingual! I speak Spanish and English. My Spanish is excellent. I went to school in Mexico and the USA all through elementary and jr. high.

Why did you apply to be an O Mag Insider?

Honestly, I applied because I love Oprah and what she stands for. I remember my first memories of her, watching her on TV, and just being so mesmerized with all her wisdom and knowledge. I would just come home from school and watch her shows and take in all it. It was food for my soul and still is. When I saw the opportunity to become an O Mag Insider, I jumped on it and sent it to the universe. I wanted to be a part of it because I believe she, along with her team, make a difference and inspire. When I found out I was accepted, I was full of joy and so thankful.

How do you live your best life?

I live my best life by learning to let go, not seeing things so narrowly, by widening the view and seeing it whole.

What are you reading now?

I am currently reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective people by Stephen Covey. I have read it over and over again, and every time I read it, I learn something new. Lots of aha moments kinda book. I totally recommend it.

What’s a day in your life like?

Well, if I’m not substituting, I would be home.

My day starts at 6:00 am. Kids are still asleep, so I have some “me” time. I stay in bed an extra 5 minutes, not going to lie, because I am not a morning person – LOL. I get up and stretch, dress, and get kiddos up. Mornings are such a rush between getting them ready for school, making breakfast and dropping them off at school. By 8am, I am home. I do a little workout (something new I started and hope to keep as a habit), and grab some breakfast – my favorite is avocado anything. Then I tidy up the house and do laundry, etc.

Once that’s set, I will shower, get dressed, put on some makeup, then run errands. Later in the day, I get dinner ready, which is my favorite because I love food, not only eating it but the process of preparing it. I like playing music in the background and sometimes I sing, other times I dance. It’s a blast while I have a party all to myself. Once dinner is done, I then check emails, Instagram, and maybe take photos of products for my Instagram. By then, I’ve picked up my kids from school, come home, help them with homework, then dinner, bath time, and we finish with a little snuggle and reading books before bedtime.
