What did you want to be when you were a little girl?
When I was a little girl I wanted to be a doctor.
What are some different jobs you’ve had in your life?
I’ve always had a competitive spirit and a passion for storytelling. Sales came naturally to me. As soon as I turned 16 and could legally work, I took part time jobs at the mall selling sunglasses at the Sunglass Hut and selling women’s clothing at The Limited. In college, I worked weekends waitressing at Cracker Barrel, Ground Round, and Cheddars.
After I graduated, I put my chemistry/business degree to work going into pharmaceutical sales for UpJohn Pharmaceuticals. I enjoyed selling to doctors; it felt good knowing the drugs I was selling helped their patients’ health improve. During this time, I was awarded a BMW as a top salesperson.
I began to realize I loved the marketing aspect of my job more than the prescription drugs I was selling. So, I left pharmaceuticals to move into promotional products marketing. I went to work for a small company for a few years and eventually decided to become an entrepreneur.
When I was 29 years old I started Sublime Promotions, my own boutique promotional marketing firm headquartered in Chicago. I built Sublime Promotions into a multimillion dollar company and sold it to a public company at age 34. I stayed on at that company, InnerWorkings, Inc., as a VP of business development for 7 years.
During that time I became a mom, and I wanted to try something new. I wanted to do something totally different for my next chapter. I asked myself an important question: What do I love to do most? I absolutely love to travel with my little boy. I decided to create a way to make that my new career. I started Well Traveled Kids as my next business venture, and I am currently focusing my time growing the Well Traveled Kids brand. WellTraveledKids.com is a luxury family travel magazine-style blog dedicated to the art of traveling well with children. The site includes family travel tips, expert theme park recommendations, must-see experiences, luxury resort reviews, global destination tips, unique family-friendly restaurant recommendations, and other family lifestyle posts written by a team of over 30 international writers and myself who have mastered the art of traveling well with kids. I donate a percentage of profits each year to select children’s charities that make fun, leisure, and travel possible for all kids.

Why did you apply to be an O Mag Insider?
As a woman entrepreneur living in Chicago, Oprah has always been my role model. I was lucky to be in the audience for the Oprah show several times and each experience was so incredible. I’ve read O Magazine loyally for years and I watch Supersoul Sunday weekly while on the treadmill. I applied to be an O Mag Insider because I wanted an opportunity to be a part of Oprah’s inspiring brand that encourages living your best life. So far I’m loving the experience. I’ve had a few opportunities to meet and hang out with my fellow Insiders and it’s always a blast! I can’t wait to see what wonderful surprises will come my way this year as an Insider!
How do you live your best life?
I focus on being present and reading the energy of each situation. My intention is for my life to be full of happiness and fun. I prioritize spending my time with people who fill me up with love, strength, and positive energy.
What are you reading now?

What’s a day in the life of Sarah Stopek Hirsch like?
Life is good! We travel a few times a month and those days are my favorite. At home, every day starts with breakfast with my husband and son and ends with quality time together. While they are off doing their thing during the day I’m busy as a social media maven; negotiating deals, making travel plans, writing resort reviews, networking, volunteering at Harry’s school and in my community, and making time to work out. Each day is different, but I make sure to always stay positive and focused on having fun and loving life.
