Age: March 8 (International Women’s Day) I turn 64
Occupation: Fashion | Travel | Beauty | Lifestyle Influencer
What did you want to be when you were a little girl?
Flight Attendant (we called them stewardesses back in the day). When I was young, a teacher, nurse, dental hygienist, fashion merchandiser, and flight attendant were just about the only career options.
What are some different jobs you’ve had in your life?
Commercial pilot, school teacher, flight attendant, runway, commercial print model, spokesperson, emcee, boutique owner, jewelry designer and now Fashion/Travel & Lifestyle blogger. Hmmmm…..what’s next?
What do you work toward in your spare time?
I love decorating my homes. We have 4 at the moment. I also love organizing and creating outfits from my closet. I have been a fashionista right out of the womb.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Night owl, but I wish I could be a morning person.
What are you most proud of?
Becoming a commercial pilot in the late 80s when there were not a lot of women in the field. I was very insecure about entering the field, but my dad kept cheering me on and believing in me.
What are you known for?
My style and big personality. My friends also tell me that I have no fear….
What inspires you?
I am inspired by accomplished women. I love amazing women like Dolly Parton, and of course, Oprah is an inspiration. I salute them both!! We should all have their wisdom and gifts and be willing to share with the world as they do. I also get inspired by Jennifer Lopez because she doesn’t drink, smoke, or do drugs and she has set goals and conquered each one as a dancer, singer, designer, actress, and more.
Tell me something about you that most people don’t know.
I was a commercial pilot in my early thirties. I flew for a charter company where I flew small corporate jets. We flew air ambulance, organ procurement, company execs, and people in the private sector.
Why did you apply to be an O Mag Insider?
I heard about it and thought how cool it would be to be associated with anything that Oprah has her hands on. I knew if I were to have the opportunity, that it would be another avenue to learn something new and grow.
How do you live your best life?
I just strive to be giving, kind, loyal, and honest to all who know me. When I give out good, then it comes back to me giving me the best life ever.
What are you reading now?
I read a daily devotional every day. I am currently reading how to edit my own videos, so nothing real juicy or inspiring. It seems lately that most of my time goes to educational reading.
What’s a day in your life like?
Crazy….. After I read my devotional, I start with at least an hour a day working on my Instagram account while enjoying 2 cups of black coffee. After that, I am either shooting or editing photos or videos. I do Pilates at 4:30 pm about 4 days a week to stay fit. Girlfriend time is important, so once a month, I play Bunco with my Bunco Babes and lunch with my Dining Divas or my YaYa ladies. I have lots of friends, so very social.
Cooking is not my thing so we mostly get a lot of carry out. Since we travel a lot, we would rather spend time at home in the evenings unless we attend a charity event. I love to write my blogs after I crawl in bed. There are many variables as my days unfold, so I have to be flexible. I run a Texas ranch, a Colorado river ranch, a Florida beach house, as well as our main home in Houston and all that comes with it. I also make all of our reservations, plan get togethers with our families, and the list just keeps going. It takes a lot of planning and organizing to live my life, and it gets overwhelming at times, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
