Occupation: I’m a beauty and lifestyle blogger and also consider myself to be an evolving philanthropist of sorts.
What were you like as a little girl?
I was a girly girl until the age of 10, then turned into a tomboy. By high school, the girly side came back again. I was always quite shy and sensitive.
What are some different jobs you’ve had in your life?
I babysat my way through middle school, high school, and college since I always loved children. I pursued my career in Pediatric Occupational Therapy. When I retired, I actually followed another passion and opened a retail store selling custom invitations and gifts. Since then I’ve been focusing on my beauty and lifestyle blog and doing volunteer work.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
I’m a morning person all the way! You can find me in bed with a good book at 9 pm most nights.
What are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of the family that my husband and I have created. Our kids are all adults now, and I’m proud to say that they are all loving, caring, kind, respectful, contributing members of society. I see big things in all of their futures (and hopefully some grandbabies for me!)
What are you known for?
Hmm, that’s a good question. I hope that when my life is over, I will be known for what I did to help others. In the meantime, I’m probably known for my knowledge of makeup and beauty products. LOL!
What is the last book you read?
The last book I completed was Sisters First by the Bush twins. I’m currently reading The Wisdom of Sundays by Oprah (I bought this for myself for Christmas).
Tell me something about you that most people don’t know.
I started a group and website called Give a Smile Today. I did this to honor the life of my mom who passed away from cancer. We collect the names and addresses of people who need a smile just by knowing that others are thinking of them. After getting the list, we send them a showering of cards and notes of encouragement. It’s a gratifying feeling to know that we’ve made others smile.
Why did you apply to be an O Mag Insider?
I’m a long time fan of Oprah (since college back in 1986) and the Oprah Magazine later on. I wasn’t sure what the journey of an O Mag Insider would entail since I’m part of the inaugural group, but it has turned into one of the best experiences I’ve had. The group is made up of encouraging, selfless, amazing, and inspiring people. It’s given me about 70 new sisters and one new brother. I’m so proud to be a part of this group.
How do you live your best life?
I take the time to stop and smell the roses. What I know for sure is that nobody is promised tomorrow. I treat every single day as a gift, and I try to make the best of my days here on earth by making the lives of others better though my volunteer work and community involvement.
What’s a day in the life of Stacie Hamilton like?
When my Alexa device wakes me up in the morning, I start with a dose of O to Go. If Oprah’s words don’t get you motivated for the day, then I don’t know what else will. I spend time reflecting, thinking, and planning out the day. I also try to get in some exercise (mostly walking) a few times a week, spend time with my puppy and get some caffeine with a friend. Most days I work on my beauty and lifestyle blog, run errands, spend time with family and friends and work on my philanthropy projects.
