Occupation: Songwriter / Author / Dreamer
What did you want to be when you were a little girl?
Well…first I wanted to be a cheerleader, followed by Scooby-Doo’s girlfriend, and finally a journalist / writer.
What do you work towards in your spare time?
It’s all spare time…lol. After losing three family members within a 5 week period, I realized that LIVING is so important. I spent so much time worrying and living in the past, but now the focus is on goodness, fulfillment, growth, and positives. That said, if I’m not writing, working out, reading or recording, I am unapologetically indulging in a guilty pleasure like binge watching “Snowfall”, “RHOA”, “The Office”, “Insecure” or “Modern Family”. Sometimes with the ones I love and sometimes I’m alone and looking totally ridiculous, but happy AF.
What are some different jobs you’ve had in your life?
My first job was at Burger King. Then I had a series of jobs that didn’t pan out…telemarketing and that sort of thing. That was all before 18. Then, when I started in the entertainment business, I sort of stayed there. My favorite job outside of working for myself was being the Personal Assistant for Paris Hilton. I was also an Estate Manager / Personal Assistant for Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Night Owl, 100%.
What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of how my real friends and family view me. They all call when they want advice that’s not weighted to favor anyone…I just don’t have it in me to take sides. I am also proud that they find me to be loyal, giving and honest.
What are you known for?
Songwriting, cooking, and going all the way out. If I throw a party, I’m throwing a party, LOL. If it’s taco night, it will look like you’re on vacay in Mexico. I just love cooking and entertaining.

What inspires you?
My parents. I work hard so that very soon they can kick their feet up and get virgin piña colada-wasted. Music also inspires me. I hear colors and textures, and seriously love all kinds of music from Brazilian to Celtic, R&B, Folk, and Classical. Music is the brightly colored and random shapes of sizes splattered on the canvas of life. I am also inspired by words, which I find more beautiful than people sometimes. I can listen to women empower women all day too, so naturally I am inspired by our group of fantastic O Mag Insiders. Real love is scarce in this business, and so many things are inauthentic, but we have a group of really, really good people and I have been lifted out of dark places simply by visiting our group page. It’s so inspiring.
Tell me something about you that most people don’t know.
I’m obsessed with animal videos. It’s my refuge in a time of comfort, LOL. I can watch for hours on end. I love funny kid videos too and am notorious for sharing them with my friends and family who are sometimes annoyed with me.
Why did you apply to be an O Mag Insider?
Well, I LOVE Oprah. I would rush home from school to watch her every single day and continued to watch her faithfully until her last show aired. Her words of wisdom were and remains a pick-me-up on my darkest days…she really just gets me. Ha. She doesn’t even know it, but she gets me. So I applied to align myself with Oprah’s brand, ideals, and wisdom. I’m so grateful that I did.
How do you live your best life?
Something clicked recently, and all of the things that I did kicking and screaming have become addictive. I have lost a significant amount of weight by choosing to honor my word to myself. Instead of always honoring my word to my family and loved ones, I made Taura a priority. I thought that I hated yoga, but after giving it a try again, I am totally in love. So lately, I live my best life by feeding only goodness to my body, soul, and mind. I have had to let go of some people and you know what? Flying is much easier when you don’t have the heaviness of bad relationships / friendships weighing you down.
What are you reading now?
I am writing my second book, so my head is basically glued between The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent, The Four Agreements, and You Are a Badass. I don’t read novels while writing, but a little self-help ain’t never hurt anybody, so I highlight sections that speak to me and allow them to speak to me throughout my own process.
What’s a day in your life like?
It’s a mixed bag. If I am working on a project, I usually go walk or go to yoga, and then straight to the studio for most of the day and night. But if I’m in between projects, it’s me and HGTV after the work out and then maybe piano lessons, a Groupon facial and hanging out with my family and framily! Oh, and I usually write until my head hits my laptop…that’s when I know it’s bedtime.
